My Story

My passion for food began in my great-grandmother’s farmhouse kitchen in rural Austria, where freshly prepared delicious and nutritious food from the farm was served with stories from the past and the present. This sparked a lifelong interest in food and people’s stories.

I started my professional journey with an apprenticeship in horticulture in Germany. I was shocked at the high use of pesticides and fertilisers in commercial vegetable production and became interested in healthier food and lifestyle options. I moved to California where the organic whole-food culture and alternative therapies were thriving. I studied and trained as a therapeutic massage practitioner at Harbin Hot Springs and The McKinnon Institute.

In 1989 I moved to the UK where I practised at Neal’s Yard Therapy Rooms and The Life Centre as a therapeutic massage therapist for more than 10 years. I loved the therapeutic bodywork, but something was missing. I wanted to explore the body-mind connection further and enrolled in a MA course in Counselling & Psychotherapy at Regent’s College.

In 1996 I set up my private practice in Kensington, where I worked for over 20 years with long- and short-term psychotherapy and bodywork clients. My passion for learning and challenges continued and in 2023 I completed my Diploma in Nutritional Therapy at the College of Naturopathic Medicine (CNM).

In 2024 I set up Karin’s Kitchen Therapy.

As a Nutritional Therapist I draw from all my professional experiences and skills to work holistically and in a personalised way to offer my clients the best possible programmes to improve their health and wellbeing.

Karin’s Kitchen is all about food and people’s stories.

My great-grandmother would be very pleased and very proud about the profound influence she had on me and on my professional choices. All my achievements are a tribute to her.

I am a qualified Nutritional Therapist dip. CNM (College of Naturopathic Medicine).

I have over 30 years of professional experience as a Psychotherapist (MA, UKCP, United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy) and as a Therapeutic Massage Therapist and Instructor (ITEC, International Therapy Examination Council).

I attend regular CPD sessions, training seminars, lectures and conferences. I am a member of the Association for Nutrition & Naturopathic Professionals (ANP). I am passionate about what I do, and I love helping clients live their best lives.
